Hackers hack more than 1.5 terabytes of HBO data, including the famous Game of Thrones!
A group of Internet hackers claimed they had stolen scenarios for episodes coming from the series of Game Thrones' Thrush game, and other data in breach of the HBO entertainment company.
The group says it has 1.5 terabytes of company data and has published episodes of Ballers and Room 104 on the Internet. She added that more material would be published "soon". HBO confirmed it had encountered a "cyber accident" (electronically) in a statement.
In an e-mail released by Entertainment Weekly, pirates appear to be providing more details in exchange for favorable coverage.
The pirates wrote: "Hello to all mankind, the greatest leaking of the e-space era is happening." They encouraged the recipients to download the stolen material and added: "Anyone who publishes well, we will interview him."
BBC reports confirmed that they could not independently verify that the pirates had the materials they claim to have stolen. But the HBO office confirmed that the "cyber incident" had leaked information. "We are immediately investigating the incident and we are working with law enforcement and external cybersecurity companies. Data protection is a top priority in HBO, so we take our responsibility very seriously to protect the data we carry," he said.
"This intrusion was clearly disturbing and worrisome to all of us," Richard Plepler, chairman and chief executive officer, said in an e-mail to HBO employees.
